Abuse of power seems to play a big role on the most common workplace problems. However, it would also be important to know that apart from the superiors, the employees are also prone in committing grave offenses that may result to serious reprimanding.

Employment law consultants are very much aware that apart from the responsibility to perform the tasks assigned to them, employees are expected to comply with the regulations that the company implements to avoid creating any sort of inconvenience.

Even the most skilled worker is vulnerable in committing mistakes and to be able to emphasize the things that every employee should avoid, here are some of the most common forms of employee misconduct:

Companies invest on computers to enhance the productivity of the people in the workplace. However, its capacity as an efficient business tool also comes with the temptation to for employees to get involve on non-work related tasks and while the Internet has opened great possibilities for a company to become more productive, without the adequate system to monitor employee usage it can become the vehicle for waste of time to be encouraged.

Harassment

Typically, harassment takes place between a person holding a higher position and his/her subordinate. However, there are also instances when it occurs between employees of the same level. Any comment or conduct that violates ones race, ancestry, ethnicity, citizenship, age, sex, disability, or status falls under harassment and since anyone has the right to freedom from harassment, employees should never commit the said mistake to avoid dealing with employment problems.

Rude and boorish behaviour can be mistaken as bullying but these are mere harmless incivilities which contradict the nature of bullying. Bullying is a non-physical violence that manifests violation regarding race, gender and organizational rank and once proven, employees will have to deal with disciplinary actions.
